There is a time when Busan Citizens Park was Kamp Hialeah. Once was a racecourse, but after the Korean War, it became the official US army base. When agents from a US naval vessel Prescott landed in the port 8 after Japan lost the war, this race track reminded one of them of a racetrack near his hometown Florida. The name of the city was ‘Hialeah.’ Therefore it is said to be called Hialeah or that the hometown of the first commander stationed here was ‘Base Hialeah.’ Anyway, the official name is ‘Kamp Hialeah.’ The US army was closed in 2006, but it was newly born to be Busan Citizens Park in 2014.
Bujeon station is located in a somewhat indefinite position between Seomyeon and Yangjeong. If you take a route to Yangjeong intersection, not to Bujeon Market, you can see Song Sang Hyeon Plaza. The place was nothing other than a small lawn and a flower garden with a brusque statue. so many children confused the statue with the statue of general Jeong Bal in Choryang. Some children even believed both of the statues were general Lee Sun Shin’s. General Lee Sun Shin is in seoul. It is general Jeong Bal and magistrate Song Sang Hyeon who are in Busan. He is a scholar from the mid-Joseon dynasty who lost the battle at the onset of the Japanese Invasion of Korea, but he never surrendered and was murdered by Japanese military. Be proud of him, every student in liberal arts. The spirit of liberal arts is not inferior to that of students in physical education or military academy.
Song Sang Hyeon Plaza, once stood alone in the center of the too broad intersection as if it intended to show what standing alone is, is now completely changed after the 2 years of reconstruction. There are not many parks in the center of roads with an outdoor performance hall and cafes.
