The lights in Centum city are still bright while you’re sleeping. Busan Cinema Center, Design Center, Bexco, Busan Museum of Art, the world’s biggest department store, bike courses along the park and Suyeonggang river, and all the branches of famous restaurants in Busan. This is Centum City.
Let’s begin the trip by appreciating modern arts at Busan Museum of Art. Well, you might feel a blush, but you will know what is so special about this. Get off at BEXCO(Busan Museum of Art) station. Drop by the museum right next to the exit number 5 and look around both permanent and special exhibitions at a very cheap price. Thanks to the volunteers, it is quiet inside the museum. Following the direction, you could be immersed in the ages and arts from collections with the theme for each season, Arabian art exhibition, Biennale, installation with the theme of Plato, and modern artists’ works. Ah, a trip must begin like this whether it is short or long, because we sometimes forget to slowly count our heartbeats.
The neighbor of Busan Museum of Art is Bexco. There are always various forums and conventions held for the whole year in Bexco built with the purpose of convention halls. You can see the costume play of Comic World or experience medical device for free at a health fair if you check the schedule on the internet. You might get trapped to only see the empty entrance if you do not get there in time. However, you can also enjoy the furniture exhibition, baby products fair, game exhibition, or motor show here in Bexco. During ‘G-star’, the game exhibition, the ‘crowd’ of game fans from Busan and Gyeongnam area stand in line wind around Bexco about 2 times from dawn. It is said that the opening of G-star is no less than the zombie invasion of the city. Of course the motor show is needless to say.
Passing two department store on the left of Bexco, you can see a giant surrealistic building in front of your eyes. Those who don’t know about Busan Cinema Center are to think about what that is even when they pass by the building. A Austrian architect with a complicated name has designed the building. Because there is ‘photo spot’ marked from the plaza to inside the building, you can take pictures with the best angles. Not many Busan people visit the place, perhaps for the reason its appearance looks weird, but the movie goers purchase the membership whose price is up to 1,000,000 won for a year and enjoy limitless movies. The students in the field of film and image and the movie staff inhabit this cinema center. It’s almost 100% right to say those plodding toward the restaurant with inflamed eyes due to the overtime work and study are the movie people.
The special movies are always screened as well as the recently released ones. Busan Cinema Center provides the best audio and screen at the price cheaper than that of large cineplex, Biff begins and ends here. It was originally built for BIFF only.
The outdoor screen shows a free movie in summer. Don’t imagine the simple screening organized by a community service center. It is Busan Cinema Center. It is always beyond your imagination.
Now, head to AEPC Naru Park, the final destination. There are many people enjoying cycling as it is a park built along the long Suyeonggang river. The road is total 3500m-long including the bike lane and the trail. There are not many places where you can enjoy cycling at the riverside without the threat from cars. The office workers in Centum city who want to enjoy peaceful lunch on their own visit the park with a small lunch box. Some people say they look so lonely, but you can pretend to be the New Yorker here. Some ride on a boat at the boat dock. Moreover, this is where you can see almost all kinds of light weight bikes as if they want to show what the real bike is. The place every bike-lover show off their bikes they have remodeled with their money out of their modest income. The bikes may look ordinary, but they are not. Suyeonggang river has fresh water and clean air as there’s no nearby industrial area. Those unfortunate people without bikes should go under Jwasuyeonggyo bridge. There is a ‘free bike rental shop.’ How amazing.
Do not worry about food since there are famous restaurants and convenience stores everywhere. After having a good time with delicious food, movies, and bikes, the final destination of this metro trip that has begun from BEXCO(Busan Museum of Art) station is Centum city. You can go underground directly by escalator, but you can get to the station by either of the department stores. Enjoy window-shopping at the luxury shops on the first floor and the season-off sale stand underground, then go out to the exit. Do not go through the department stores when you’re with your girlfriend. You may give her a huge response to her saying ‘this is pretty’, but never ask her ‘Do you want it?’ I’d rather recommend to attack first saying ‘I want it, too.’
